How Business Coaching Helped an Architect Business Become More Structured, More Strategic and Get Better Results

 

In this video, Markus Seifermann, owner of a prominent London architecture business, shares his experience of working with business coach Jamie Goral and how coaching has helped them see beyond the limits they had placed on their own business.

He explains that the business had previously had very good years, but more recently they were experiencing challenges with clients — including clients wanting a lot of work but not always willing to pay properly, and projects becoming stressful and time-consuming without the right return. This included better systems, clearer processes, improved client vetting, and greater accountability across the whole team. The business began to feel less random and more structured, with clear goals and a plan to achieve them.

A key concept they introduced was defining where they wanted the business to get to, and then working backwards from that goal to build a plan. This way of thinking was new to them, but it has proven to be very effective in helping the business move in a clearer and stronger direction.

They describe business coaching as being similar to having a personal trainer — you may already know what needs to be done, but having someone there to hold you accountable and make sure you actually do it makes a huge difference.

Perhaps most importantly, coaching has helped them step back and look at their business from an outsider’s perspective. This has helped them see both the strengths and the weaknesses in the business more clearly, make better decisions, and move forward with more confidence and direction.
